Natural vs Posed

Browse through a few wedding photography portfolios and you will notice that there are two distinct styles or approaches to wedding photography. On one end of the scale, there is the photo journalist approach, where the photographer fades into the background, capturing natural moments as they happen. The second approach is the posed approach where pictures are setup by the photographer to re-create the feelings and emotions of the wedding day.

My first wedding ever…

Alatha, happily married

Roughly seven years ago, our foray into wedding photography began. I was a camera enthusiast, dabbling in all genres of photography whilst taking up space behind a desk at an IT company. The PA who worked at the company came into the office and announced that she was engaged. After the office offered our congratulations, she asked us if we knew any wedding photographers. One of my colleagues, no doubt tired of my constant photography chats, suggested that I shoot the wedding.
